If a company grows quickly and experiences a sustained period of success, resulting in the need to take on more employees in a short period of time, the current IT department may no longer be able to meet the needs of the larger business.

In this case it’s essential to quickly identify how the department should be expanded, what its new brief should be and how many new staff members are required to meet the needs of the larger business.

The key point is to remember that what works now may not work in the future. Your IT staff members play a key role in ensuring the computer infrastructure is able to cope with the growing needs and demands of the company. If these two aspects don’t match up, the company could be heading for problems it won’t be able to cope with.
